Infants

 

7:30 to 9:00 Infants arrive and are greeted. Parents relay important information to us, such as medicine needed, feeding, sleeping schedule, pick-up, and important habits.

9:00 to 11:30 Infants and us enjoy time together playing simple games, singing, stretching and cuddling. They are rocked and fed before morning nap, as needed. Older infants enjoy a circle time together, which may include story time, puppet play, singing and finger plays. Activity areas are also available for the older infants to explore such as sensory areas, block building, dramatic play and art exploration. They enjoy time together outdoors taking a walk, playing games or doing a special activity.

11:30-12:30 The infants are fed. Diapering is done as needed.

12:30-2:30 During nap time teachers play soft music while the children sleep. Infants who are awake during this time enjoy individual activity time with their caregiver.

2:30-6:00 Infants are diapered individually as they awaken. Children eat snack and get ready to go outdoors if weather permits. Outdoor play time for the babies. Children enjoy a variety of activities such as blocks, nesting toys and dramatic play.

Each infant’s health, happiness and well being is our primary responsibility.

*Feeding and diapering is done throughout the day as needed.

Toddlers (18-36 months)    

Toddlers are full of surprises. Toddlers' every experience is brand new and we have the privilege of introducing them to the world. In a loving and fun atmosphere, we let them to feed themselves and drink from a cup, and encourage them to speak.

Typical Day for Toddlers in A Dreamland Day Care:

7:30-9:00 Parents relay important information to us, such as medicine needed, feeding, sleeping, pick-up, etc. This information will be recorded on their Daily Log Sheet. Breakfast is served to the toddlers. Diapering and toileting occur as needed.

9:00-11:30 Circle time which may include storytelling, fingerplays, puppets and singing. Toddlers interact in a large group. Children may choose activities such as dramatic play, sensory play, block building and art exploration. Children help clean up prior to snack being served as a group. Children spend small group time and the other children in their small group. They enjoy time together outdoors taking a walk, playing games or doing a special activity.

11:30-12:30 Children are fed. Diapering and toileting is done as needed.

12:30-2:30 During nap time we play soft music while the children sleep. Toddlers who are awake during this time enjoy looking at books.

2:30-6:00 Diapering and toileting occur as the toddlers awaken. Toddlers eat snack and get ready to go outdoors if weather permits. Children enjoy a variety of activities such as blocks, dramatic play, sensory play, stories, finger plays and songs. Children engage in quiet activities until parents arrive.

Preschool & Pre-Kindergarten (3-4 years)

   

Socialization is important at this age. Creating imagination, individualism, social experiences and being nurtured by a loving, competent, and well-trained teacher. Many children learn the names of colors, shapes, numbers and counting, the days of the week, words to songs and letters.

7:30-9:00 Children arrive and are greeted. Parents relay important information to us.

9:00-11:30 Children have circle time which may include storytelling, fingerplays, the calendar, weather, counting, letter and name recognition along with a review of the morning learning centers. Children may choose activities from a variety of thematic learning centers planned for the day. Developmental centers may include math, science and language activities. Children help clean up prior to snack being served as a family style setting. Children spend time enjoying creative activities in the classroom. Dramatic play, sensory activities, blocks and creative art materials are available for the children to explore. They enjoy time together outdoors taking a walk, playing games, playing on the outdoor equipment or doing a special activity.

11:30-12:30 Children enjoy a family style lunch setting. After lunch children enjoy quiet storytelling time. 

12:30-2:30 During nap time teachers play soft music while the children sleep. Children who are awake during this time may read books on their cots.

2:30-6:00 Upon awakening children are served family style snack. Children enjoy indoor and outdoor free play. A group activity may also be planned for the children to participate in. Children engage in quiet activities until parents arrive.

  5 to 7 Years    

7:30–9:00 Children arrive and are greeted. Parents relay important information to the caregiver. Open ended activities are available for the children to participate in. 

9:00-11:30 A variety of activities are available for the children to participate in, ranging from cooking projects, woodworking, and craft projects, to time on the computer and group games. Children enjoy a family style setting for snack, which often consists of foods prepared earlier in a morning cooking project by the children. Children spend time outdoors playing organized games involving a large group or enjoy individual or small group activities such as gardening, taking a walk, playing on the outdoor equipment or doing a special activity.

11:30-12:30 Children enjoy a family style lunch setting.

12:30-6:00 After lunch children spend a short period of quiet time in the classroom reading books, playing board games. Afternoon activities may be a continuation of the on-going weekly theme group project or individual free choice activities. Science experiments, craft projects, games are available to the children. Children clean up the classroom and serve themselves snack. Children enjoy indoor and outdoor free play. A group activity may also be planned for the children to participate in. Children engage in quiet activities until parents arrive.
